There are two primary components of planning required—analysis and modeling. Business continuation and disaster recovery planning are critical in order to minimize the effect an unscheduled interruption will have on the on-going operations and to provide for the continuation of critical business functions. The purpose of the plan is to protect the organization in the event that all or parts of its operations are rendered unusable and to minimize the disruption of operations. With good planning, some level of stability is provided during the interruption and an orderly recovery can be achieved.
